1. Read the script prior to meeting with the director of the project. Come to the meeting prepared with questions.
2. Create thumbnails or take notes while at the meeting regarding how to stage the story. These will come in handy if you have any questions during the meeting or shortly thereafter when you get to work.
3. If necessary, utilize reference and research material to create story sketches.
4. Create rough story sketches that include blocking the action, camera movement, and framing. Sketches
should be detailed enough that a director will be able to look at them and understand what is happening in the story.
5. The director reviews the roughs and makes any necessary changes.
6. You must now incorporate the director's comments. This stage may be repeated a few times until the director feels satisfied with the direction of the production.
7. Roughs are now ready to be completed. They should be cleaned up and descriptions should be written neatly or typed under each panel.
