I consider myself to have the necessary qualities to enable me to be a successful lawyer. I am a confident speaker who can argue a case with efficiency and potency. I have participated successfully in the school debating society, covering an array of topics, including, Anselm's argument for the existence of God and whether Britain's future lies with America or Europe. This has developed skills which will be of value in mooting for the future. Studying the A-level subjects Sociology, RE, and History AS has enhanced my ability to question and analyse critically the world in which we live. Business Studies and Media Studies AS have given me some knowledge of corporate law and the implications of media ownership, conglomerate law, and media censorship laws. Particularly appealing was my research on competition law, and on how white collar crime often goes's unnoticed compared to everyday lower class crime.
I have avidly participated in sport, being a member of the school cricket team from Primary school through Secondary Education. I am also a long standing member of Riley's Snooker Club and the Bushfield sports centre, along with the Fitness First gym in which I try my best to train for at least an hour each day. I have gathered essential work experience at John Lewis and McDonalds meeting people from a wide variety of background and classes. Being a prefect in the 6th form has also enabled me to delegate duties and work as a team; to cooperate and collaborate with other people in achieving results.
I am an avid reader of the law section of the Times newspaper and the Economist, it is truly remarkable how such a varied range of issues can guide back to a single word. I feel that I have the interest and skills to be a successful student of law and have non-academic interests which will allow me to play a full part in the wider aspects of university life.
