The Small hotel is a good little hotel, more so for the location. Reception is fairly large and modern, but the bedrooms are a bit dingy and cheap feeling. It served our needs fine though, and the location really is very good and beds are comfortable enough. Just a few minutes walk to Chiang Mai gate in one direction and the river in the other. Lots of restaurants near by for you to choose.
Breakfast was very poor and I woudn't bother unless it's free. We had trips all bar one of our days stay, so only ate once, but probably wouldn't have bothered with the breakfast again had we not been on trips and had the choice.
Whilst in chiang mai, i'd 100% recommend Benny's home cooking course.
