In summary, our study has developed a new combined use of FO and microalgae in producing n − 3 fatty acids-enriched eggs without affecting the performance or health of hens. One egg produced by our described procedure contained up to 499 mg ALA and 138 mg EPA + DHA, whereas there was only 11 to 19 mg ALA and 29 to 43 mg EPA and DHA in the control egg.
