III. THROUGHPUT ANALYSIS FOR MULTI-HOP NETWORK OF ONE-WAY TRAFFIC WITH RTS/CTS
Figure 2 shows an example of the string wireless multi-hop network topology.
In the present paper, we assume that the network has one-way traffic flows from Node 1 to Node 20 and that the IEEE 802.11 DCF with RTS/CTS is used as a MAC protocol.
We present analytical expressions of the maximum throughput in the string multi-hop network of one-way traffic with RTS/CTS.
These expressions are derived from the analysis of the influence of the transmission failure probability at bottleneck nodes.
A. Assumptions for Analysis
The analysis of the present paper is based on the following assumptions.
(1) Nodes within 1 hop are within the transmission range and the carrier-sensing range.
(2) All nodes have frames to transmit at any time.
(3) Under assumption (2), neighboring nodes share resources and the back-off time.
(4) The transmission probability and transmission time of bottleneck nodes are the same as those of the neighboring
nodes.
These are important assumptions in order to obtain simple analytical expressions.
