Stimuli and apparatus
Most of the stimuli and apparatus were the same as in Experiment 1. The shutter window controlled
stimuli presentation time for comfort reasons. Rather than a response box, each child held
two response buttons, one in each hand, that could be pressed using his or her thumbs (see
Fig. 1D). These response buttons have been used successfully in other child studies at our laboratory
(e.g., Krebs, Biswas, Pascalis, & Schwarzer, 2009).
