The reduction of the air velocity below the terminal velocity of the soybeans allowed the conveyed soybeans to free-fall.

This phenomenon was used to develop the second stage of the cleaning system. A PVC “Y” was mounted upside down and roughly at a 45° angle to accomplish the reduction.

The soybean and MOG stream was conveyed vertically up through one of the legs of the “Y.”

The grain tank was placed below the other 10 cm ID leg of the “Y” in order to collect the free-falling soybeans.

A PVC “T” was fitted to the 15 cm ID pipe just after the PVC “Y” to further increase the pressure drop (fig. 7).

A removable plastic bin was used to collect the harvested soybeans. The fully assembled unit is shown in figure 7.
