More than 49 million baht provided by the Overseas Economic Cooperation Fond will be budgeted to help thousands of elephants in the North,Agriculture Minister Pongpol Adireksarn said.
The money would be spent, beginning next month, developing the Thai Elephant Conservation Centre in Hang Chat district of Lampang and revitalising degraded forests in the North to improve wild elephant habitats. The ministry thinks elephants deserve a better habitat. Our project to create a new world for Thailand is elephants is partially funded by the World Wildlife Fund.
