In order to normalize the data taken from the measurements
which are subject to small deviations from specimen
to specimen regarding the actual conductivity of the
material r, the measured electrical potential differences
Vij; i ¼ L; R and j ¼ R; M (ref. to points in Fig. 5) are divided
to the initial measurement of the same potential Vijo at
zero crack length, taken at the beginning of the test. From
the FEA results the measured potentials (in non-dimensional
form) are related to the crack-propagating parameters
(crack length and inclination) following the
algorithm presented in Fig. 8.
Fig. 9 presents such results for the two extreme angles
considered (0 and 40). Only cracks inclined to one side
need be analysed, as the results for the other side are
