Second, in terms of function, translation is also multi-faceted because
translation transmits information, ideas and knowledge in various aspects.
Sometimes, translation directly communicates information, ideas and knowledge. For example, in King Rama IV’s reign, the translation for information appeared in a newspaper called Bangkok Recorders (Chaweng Jantaraket5 B.E. 2528: 9). The translation in that newspaper was done from English into Thai, to present news from overseas. Through this, the translation passed information, ideas and knowledge from the western part of the world to Thailand. This informed Thai people more about what was going on outside Thailand
