A novel SDME-ETAAS method based on the use of RTILs as
extraction solvent has been described for the determination of
manganese in water samples. The proposed method was proved
to be simple, selective, fast and environment-friendly. It was successfully
applied to monitor low concentrations of manganese in
real water samples with good accuracy and precision. In addition,
because of good selectivity and sensitivity of the method,
its application may be extended to biological and geological samples
after proper digestion or dissolution procedures. Comparison
of analytical features of this method with those of some other
preconcentration-ETAAS techniques (Table 4) indicates that the
linear range and LOD of the proposed method are better than or
comparable with other methods except the one that uses knotted
reactor for preconecntration [18]. But, it should be mentioned that
the latter technique requires sophisticated and relatively expensive
instruments. Also the data in Table 4 reveals that our proposed
method requires smallest volume of sample while having comparable
and good enhancement factor.
