Although several years have passed, I still occasionally watch my mother as she pulls into the house with a familiar tiredness in her eyes. Her stories featuring the children’s ignorant parents remain the same but her frustration is now easier to understand. Perceiving daycare centers as places for children to play all day becomes easy when looking only from the surface. Digging deeper, however, will reveal the true complexity about what happens in these centers on a day to day basis. Regrettably, daycare centers will likely remain misunderstood by a large portion of the population but this does not mean they are not worth exploring. Once a person fully comprehends the responsibilities associated with working in a daycare center, they will never think of a babysitter when facing a daycare teacher again.
