A mass Breakout at a prison in Indonesia saw 31 prisoners escape after forming a human ladder to climb over an 8-metre wall on December 10, 2004. The prisoners, mostly convicted for drug offences, stood on each other's shoulders at the prison wall in Medan on Sumatra Island. The alarm was raised when the prisoner who had formed the foot of the ladder alerted guards in his anger at being lift behind. Lukman, head of the Tanjung Gusta Prison, said that four prisoners had been recaptured while a hunt was in progress for the rest.
