Children remain seated at school for a considerable
amount of time. Static posture and prolonged sitting in
a forward bending position, as students often acquire,
puts an extreme physiological strain on the muscles, the
ligaments and in particular on the discs (Bendix, 1987;
Brunswic, 1984). Correct standing and sitting posture is
an important factor for the prevention of musculoskeletal
symptoms (Cranz, 2000).
