The Roman Forum was originally a quadrangular space but during the 3rd century B.C. it took a circular shape, with tiers all around. Here the political and judicial life of the city took place until the old Republican age. In the early years, came the construction of the first sanctuaries like the Saturn and Dioscuri sanctuary but the great development of the Forum came later, after the end of the Punic wars, when Rome enlarged its domain in the area. This was the place chosen by Cesar Augusto
for accommodation of the Forum dedicated to him and with the establishment of the Augustus Forum, the Roman Forum turned into the most monumental centre of the Roman Imperial Age.
