he development of instructional media through appropriate learning methods are increasingly important in
order to have the effectiveness in increasing the learning. This study aims to apply the use of biopuppet
instructional media through the implementation of problem based learning (PBL) strategy for biology subtopic
Animalia life cycle in order to see their impact on improving student’s learning interest and understanding. This
study is done by applying classroom action research model which consists of four stages such as the planning,
implementation, monitoring, evaluation and reflection.This research found that (1) utilization of biopuppet
instructional media through the implementation of PBL strategy is able to improve student’s learning interest on
biology subtopic Animalia life cycle, and (2) utilization of biopuppet instructional media through the
implementation of PBL strategy is able to improve student’s understanding on biology subtopic Animalia life
cycle.
