Peter is a Scientist, Barrister/Mediator, Tribunal Member & Project Director with 27+ years' experience leading environmental, fisheries, legal, natural resource, catchment & marine protected area management; and coastal/marine infrastructure projects in over 60 countries. Peter’s unique skills allows for the development of practical strategic solutions eg considering innovative ways; that provides for environmental and social protections while saving businesses money.
Peter has led international environmental, environmental and social, cumulative & strategic assessments (>150). Peter’s specialties are infrastructure projects involving aquatic, wetland & marine ecosystems & studies assessing the effects of habitat modification/disturbance (eg ports, oil and gas). Peter led the Abbot Point Cumulative Impact Assessment, the first project of its type ever undertaken. Peter also has extensive experience providing clients with climate change assessments/adaptation/mitigation and natural resource/protected area/fisheries management advice.
Peter has degrees in Law & is admitted as a Barrister. He is a Member of numerous Australian Tribunals. Peter practices in administrative, climate change, fisheries, international & domestic environmental & marine law. Peter has developed climate change / environmental / ESIA / fisheries law, policies & procedures throughout the Asia Pacific. As a mediator/negotiator, Peter can achieve win-win outcomes for all parties.
Peter has been an environmental & legal educator. His research involved land, water & marine conservation/management with respect to agriculture, ecological aspects, fisheries, climate change, governance, institutional & legal arrangements & project impact risk assessments.
As a Project Director, Peter has led very large multi facet projects (eg 300 direct + >2,500 subbies - budgets >$15 billion USD). Peter also led very large Joint Ventures/Alliance on these projects.
