The effects of the wind and the atmospheric pressure on the
sea surface are known as the dynamic atmospheric correction
(DAC). This correction is usually seen as the sum of two
terms: the sea surface response to the atmospheric pressure
for the periods longer than 20 days, which can be approximated
by the inverse barometer formula (IB), and the
response to the high frequency atmospheric forcing for periods
shorter than 20 days, which is extracted froma global simulation
of the TUGO model. This
correction is available in the altimeter GDR products, but
must be reconstructed for the tide gauge time series.
