In this study, nondried solid residues were used as a substrate for enzymatic hydrolysis after pretreatments to favour the disruption of inter- and intrachain hydrogen bonding of cellulose fibrils. This leads to a decrease in the crystallinity of cellulose and positively affects the cellulose swelling, thus enhancing enzymatic digestibility of lignocellulosic biomass (Luo and Zhu, 2011).
