Americans are unique in that we have an abundance of big superstores that sell everything under the sun under one roof. We can go to our local shopping mall or Wal-Mart and leave with everything we need. Many of those living in European countries go to separate stores for different things. For example, you go to a shoe store for new shoes, and you go to the bakery to get bread.
European countries include taxes when they list the price on the item or on the price tag. They’re surprised to find that in America, taxes are added upon checkout.
Advertising is a huge industry in America, and Americans are so accustomed to seeing ads everywhere we go that it might not be apparent that Europe uses a lot less advertising altogether. Some European countries have banned billboards due to distraction, and some TV channels don’t play any commercials at all. Can you imagine watching cable TV without commercial breaks?
Many Europeans grocery shop daily, swapping out frozen or processed food for perishable fresh items and eat in many small courses throughout the day. In America, we shop weekly and eat three larger meals a day.
Americans spoil their pets more. Way more. We spend double the amount of money on our furry friends. It’s not uncommon for pets in America to have beds, clothes, fancy treats and expensive medicine.
