Cadmium concentration in digestive gland was significantly higher in mussels exposed to Cd than in non-exposed ones, without evident influence of the seawater temperature (Mann Whitney U test, p < 0.005). Cadmium-exposed mussels presented ∼36 times higher Cd concentration in digestive gland than non-exposed mussels at 18 ◦C, and ∼38 times higher at 26 ◦C (Fig. 1).
