Survey Monkey is an online tool that assists in the design, distribution and analysis of web-based surveys. A web-based survey enables the fast rollout of the survey and was considered the best format for the sample audience to complete the survey in a fast and efficient manner. Descriptive statistics are used to present the results of the different measures used in the survey and analysis was undertaken across age groups. Responses are filtered to help uncover patterns within the data and provide a ‘subset of overall data to be analysed’ (Survey Monkey, 2010: 1). Cross-tabulations are additionally employed whereby two or more variables are analysed simultaneously: ‘the premise is to look at the responses to one question in relation to responses to one or more other questions’ (Domegan and Fleming, 2007: 438).
