cases also increased and food poisoning cases
mostly occur at school canteens/hostel. It may
be due to the fact that the target group of food
handlers or high-risk group of people handling
food were not properly selected and also no
evaluation was done towards the effectiveness
of the training program. Therefore it is important
to emphasize that all food handlers especially
hawkers and those involved in food stall
must be trained before they are allowed to
operate. Close cooperation between the Ministry
of Health, the Ministry of Education (school
canteens/hostel kitchen) and local government
(that issues the licenses for the premises) is
needed to ensure that all the food handlers are
trained.
