Kordeeyoh Kaday, the school director, said the incident was an accident and she was deeply saddened by it. The school management had talked to the dead girl’s family and would provide assistance to them.
The gate’s caster rollers had not been moving properly recently and school maintenance staff had tried to keep it in good order, she said, adding no one expected it to collapse and kill a pupil. Funds would be sought from the primary educational service area office to repair or change the gate to prevent a repeat of the accident, she added.
