he following are recognised industry standard sizes for mobile responsive site builds.
480 x 800 - WVGA Low-end Windows Phone
640 x 960 - DVGA IPhone
768 x 1280 - WXGA High End Windows Phone
1024 x 768 - XGA IPad
1366 x 768 - WXGA Ultrabook
1280 x 800 - WXGA Netbook
1366 x 768 - WXGA Ultrabook
1280 x 1024 - SXGA Small Desktop
1680 x 1050 - WSXGA+ Large Desktop
We do not guarantee every single resolution sequence and 'dragging and dropping' the browser is NOT a sign of correct screen re-sizing. Ensure your client is aware of this if they raise it.
I have spoken with Aaron, however, who agrees the only ones we should really be overly concerned with are the following.
640 x 960 - DVGA IPhone
1024 x 768 - XGA IPad
1366 x 768 - WXGA Ultrabook
1680 x 1050 - WSXGA+ Large Desktop
Before sending a development link off to a client please ensure, at least, these four sizes are confirmed to be working on the following browsers.
a) Chrome
b) Mozilla Firefox
c) Safari
d) Edge (We no longer cater to Internet Explorer)
If a client raises the question and points out that it doesn't appear correctly on their particular device we can look into it for them. It should, however, be pointed out that we are not obligated to do this and that 'industry standard' doesn't cover their screen size.
If their required resolution differs from the nine mentioned above there will be an additional cost (minimum two hours) to implement a custom template design.
I will come up with some wording and have this added to the Site Development terms & conditions.
