Our purpose
Colleagues,
Our transition to the new structure is essentially complete and we are now well into 2015 financial year and the new era for WorleyParsons.
We must keep a strong focus on simplification and lifting our business to a new level of performance. In support of this, we have refined the description of our purpose to clarify who we are and what really matters to us as a company.
Like many of you, I entered this profession because I hoped to make a difference by helping in the planning, engineering and building of assets that would improve people’s lives. I wanted to capture that driving force many of us share in our purpose statement. We will publish this new statement to the market next week when we release our Annual Report, but I wanted to share it with you all first. It is:
“We are a professional services business, a partner in delivering sustained economic and social progress, creating opportunities for individuals, companies and communities to find and realize their own futures.
We can only do this with the support of our shareholders, earned by delivering earnings growth and a satisfactory return on their investment.”
We have also been working on simplifying our values and differentiators, by combining them. Next week look for the new detail on our values which incorporate our key differentiators in 2014 Annual Report.
However, during the change process, the focus needs to be on the five beliefs.
We are accountable for:
• Delivering what we promise;
• Zero Harm; and
• Prudently containing cost and eliminating waste.
We will achieve success by empowering our people to:
• Build enduring customer relationships; and
• Develop and reward teams who deliver on customer expectations.
I am confident that we have taken the right steps to position the company for future growth, knowing that it starts with our current performance.
Andrew
