Nadine Angerer, Germany’s longstanding number one, has officially ended her career. It has just been revealed that the 26-year-old suffered a muscle injury in her final home game for the Portland Thorns in the NWSL last weekend and will now miss the final game of the season against Western New York Flash. And with that, Angerer’s career is over.
Angerer was a crowd favourite and was honoured last week by the club’s fans at a sold out Providence Park with a framed kit. Capped 146 times by Germany, she is the most successful goalkeeper in the history of women’s football and before she returns to Frankfurt she has trips to Utah and Hawaii planned.
