Comparing the mammary vein, jugular vein, and
tail vessels, we found significant differences in blood
BHBA concentrations between samples drawn from
the mammary vein and both of the other locations.
Concentrations of BHBA in blood samples taken from
the mammary vein were 0.3 and 0.4 mmol/L lower
compared with samples taken from the jugular vein
and tail vessels, respectively. No significant difference
was observed between samples taken from the jugular
vein and tail vessels. Therefore, we recommend the use
of the jugular vein or tail vessels as a sampling location
for BHBA measurements.
