Secondarily, to ensure that the primary datacenter is only vacated in the event of a disaster, something
must be done with ERP and the Web-based systems locally, to ensure availability without triggering a
mass relocation to the less functional DR datacenter.
Currently, XYZ Company has done little to begin any virtualization strategy. The past CIO did not
consider this a strategy for cost avoidance, which has led to systems that are, in almost every case,
physical in nature. The little work that was done in this area was for Web servers, which draw content
from a small NAS over NFS/Samba. The current XYZ Company staff does not know whether this
structure is beneficial or not; it simply knows that it generally works. The board at XYZ is open to all
considerations which will reduce complexity and improve cost structure(s).
