Managing waste
A disposal bag could be tucked into the person’s underwear,
just below their stoma when changing their pouch or hung
on a door handle or tap so that materials can be easily
dropped into it after use. Twist the bag up on the taps to seal
it or use a wire tie if the patient cannot knot or tie it. As an
alternative, nappy disposal systems can be placed in various
rooms and discarded discreetly by a family member or carer.
