A woman had an incredibly lucky escape when she survived this horrific crash. Witnesses to the collision in Colchester, Essex, said that the car was so crushed that they didn’t even realise a car had been involved. The 27-year-old woman was taken to Royal London Hospital to be treated for her injuries that are not thought to be life-threatening. Sergeant Damon Bainbridge said: ‘It is extremely unlikely to get a survivor in a crash like this. If they did survive, we would expect them to have life threatening or life changing injuries. The car can just be seen under the De Rijke lorry. Stuart Hunt, who was first on the scene, said: ‘We called the police but we did not know there was a car in the middle until we went and had a look. The car was destroyed – I thought the driver was a gonner.’ A 51-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving, causing a serious injury collision and on suspicion of being under the influence of drink and drugs.
