The ultrasonic proximity detector uses an ultrasonic transducer to create acoustical waves that flood the protected space.
A receiving transducer pick up the ambient ultrasonic signal that may be only a few inches from the transmitter, or across the room.
When ultrasound waves propagate throughout the room, some travel direct[y to the receiver, white others follow an indirect route after reflecting from floor, ceiling, watts, and stationary objects in the room.
All the direct and reflected waves reach the receiver, they interfere with one another, creating a pattern of standing waves.
