High-pressure, low-volume cleaning
High-pressure, low-volume spray cleaning works well in the meat and poultry industry because it removes soil well. With this equipment, the operator can clean difficult-to-reach areas with less labor,and the cleaning compound works better at a cooler temperature
Porable high-pressure, low-volum units can be easily moved around the plant to clean parts of equipment and building surface. It works especially well for conveyore and processing equipment where soaking is impractical and hand brushing is difficult and labor intensive.
Chapter 7 includes illustration of the metering device and controls of a centralized high-pressure cleaning unit. Figure 12.2 show a dispensing nozzle for this equipment.
A centralized high-pressure cleaning system has many uses and benefits :
• The equipment can dispense several types of cleaning compound-acid, alkalinen, or neutral cleaners and sanitizers.
• The system can use mechanized spray head, mounted on belt conveyors with automatic washing, rinsing, and cutoff.
• Q uick connection outlets are available in all areas requiring cleaning.
Centralized equipment is custom built and is far more expensive than portable units, depending on the size of the facility and the flexibility of the equipment. The initial cost may range from $15,00 to over $150,000.
Foam cleaning
Foam is useful for cleaning large surface areas of meat and poultry plants., the outside of transportation equipment, ceiling, wall, piping , belts, and storage containers. Portable foam equipment is similar in size and cost to portable high-pressure units. centralized foam cleaning has the same benefits as other centralized system.
