The main purpose of the test is to measure the strain on the top surface of the spring tower, but some additional variables are also obtained at the same time. These time related parameters include: (1) strain of three spots on the left front spring tower, (2) deformation of the two front coil springs, (3) acceleration of the two front spring towers, (4) car speed and mileage. There are totally nine signals fed to the Somat/eDAQ device with 500 Hz sample rate, as shown in Fig. 4c. According to the failure sample of the spring tower and FEM results, three strain gauges are placed on the surface as shown in Fig. 4a to reduce the variation. The one with the maximum value will be used for the strain analysis and fatigue calculation
