5. Conclusion
In summary, in this work we were able to develop different
culture systems for P. alata by studying key factors influencing in
vitro morphogenesis that had not been evaluated for this species
so far. Our data confirmed the positive effect of coconut water in
in vitro development of plantlets, thus overcoming difficulties of
shoot elongation. The systems established here are reproducible
and efficient for plant regeneration through both direct and indirect
organogenesis, and can be applied for clonal propagation and in
vitro conservation. Moreover, high yielding callus and cell suspension
cultures were established in two different conditions. These
materials will be used in the study of modulation of secondary
metabolite production, and evaluation of biological activities
