In the current study, the meticulous simulation of methanol
production from tri-reforming process was carried out using
Aspen Plus to optimize the unit operating conditions for
maximum production rate. A thermodynamic analysis was
conducted to identify the factors that have influence on the
syngas composition. Temperature, CH4/flue gas ratio, and
pressure are the operating variables that affect the equilibrium
compositions in tri-reforming reactions. Process simulations
determined that the optimum conditions were 850 C,
1 atm, and 0.4 CH4/Flue Gas ratio. Under these conditions, a
CO2 conversion of 99% and a syngas ratio (H2/CO) of 2 can be
achieved.
