Chitty Chitty Bang Bang was a story which Ian Fleming created for his son Caspar at bedtime. It is a tale about a magical car that flies, floats and even thinks. This delightful story follows Chitty Chitty Bang Bang and the Pott family as they embark upon adventures that take them to the sky, the sea and beyond! Familiar to many through the original book illustrated by John Burningham, the 1968 classic film starring Dick Van Dyke helped mark the story as an enduring classic for children and adults, and the stage show, which opened in London in 2002, continued to bring Ian Fleming’s vision to life.
In 2012 Ian Fleming’s original classic was re-released by Pan Macmillan in the UK. This vibrant new edition features fantastic illustrations from Joe Berger, helping to bring Chitty’s adventure to life for a new generation. Carrying on where Fleming left off, Frank Cottrell Boyce has written two more stories in the Chitty collection… soaring Chitty Chitty Bang Bang right through to the twenty-first century (and back again!).
