The Governments were urged to ensure that the master and the officers should have readily available on the bridge all necessary data in accordance with this recommendation under various conditions of draft and speed.
This was the first attempt by the IMO to address and recommend the contents of the manoeuvering information on board ships. As a result, essential maneuvering information in some detail is now available on the bridge for use by the master, navigating officers and pilots. It contributes to safety of navigation under various circumstances in which the ship operates.
