normal blood urea, sterile leukocyturia and microscopic
hematuria, proteinuria of 570 mg/24 h, creatinine
clearance of 17 mL/min and low complement
(serum C3 concentration 55 mg/dL (80–170 mg/dL)
and serum C4 concentration 6 mg/dL (15–45
mg/dL)). A plain abdominal X-ray film was taken,
and it showed gaseous distension of the intestinal
segments and air-fluid levels in the right lower
abdominal quadrant. A laparoscopic surgery was
performed due to a clinically suspected diagnosis
of appendicitis. Laparoscopy demonstrated normal
appendix, intestine and bladder; infantile uterus;
cul-de-sac liquid and hemorrhagic aspect of the
