Flexitallic Flexpro (kammprofile) gaskets can be manufactured to internationally recognized standards or to the
clients bespoke specification.
When manufacturing to the more commonly used international standards the following guidance and/or core
thicknesses and tolerances are used in accordance with the relevant standard:
ASME B16.20 (2012):
Section 5.2.2 ‘Construction. The thickness of the metal core of the gasket shall be 2.97 to 3.33 mm’.
BS EN 12560-6 (2003):
Section 5.2.1 ‘Core Materials. The core thickness measured over the tips of the serrations shall be a minimum of
three times the depth of the serrations.’ Thickness tolerance +0.00/-0.25 mm. For illustrative purposes the standard
indicates a typical thickness of 4mm.
BS EN 1514-6 (2003):
Section 5.2.1 ‘Core Materials. The core thickness measured over the tips of the serrations shall be a minimum of
three times the depth of the serrations.’ Thickness tolerance +0.00/-0.25 mm. For illustrative purposes the standard
indicates a typical thickness of 4mm.
For non-standard Flexpro gaskets, unless instructed by the client, Flexitallic generally adopt a nominal core
thickness and applied tolerance in line with ASME B16.20.
IMPORTANT NOTE:
The above recommendation cannot be taken as a guarantee of successful performance. The media,
temperature and pressure are believed to be within the sealing capability of the material recommended.
However, the successful performance of a sealing material in a specific application is dependent to a great
extent upon hardware and installation conditions, factors over which FLEXITALLIC LTD has no control.
