CONCLUSION
The above statistics on the status of "OA" repositories in the field
of Library & Information Science reveal thate these repositories
are found more widespread in developed countries with a
maximum contribution from the United states (16) followed by
the United kingdom( 12). This may be ascribed to the verity that
developed countries have become attentive towards the need
and significance of knowledge dissemination that helps in
development of real knowledge -based nations. On the other
hand, developing countries are still lagging behind towards the
contribution of OA repositories, which is supported by the fact
that India is the only developing country contributing more than 3
repositories. This can be endorsed to fact that developed
countries have became aware of the importance of OA
repositories while developing countries still need to be sensitized
about the importance of OA repositories particularly in present
knowledge-based society . Among the various categories of OA
repositories institutional repositories hold a maximum share that
can be attributed to the fact that the majority of institutions
endorse research-based activities for which OA is the most viable.
While as governmental repositories contribute least share
signifying that these institutions are still not much aware about the
importance of OA repositories. As far as language interface is
concerned, English emerges out to the prominent language
interface of repositories, which can be attributed to the fact that
most of the nations have accepted English as a common
