reluctance to accept certain linguistic and cultural aspects of the target language, for there is a mismatch between th young adult second learners' linguistic apparatus and the language many aspects of the target language. As a result, L2 learners feel apprehensive and insecure in the learning process. This first shock is typical in a discovery process, for anybody feels fragile, insecure, and, somehow, afraid when stepping on an unknown ground. To feel more comfortable in the new territory, second language learners often look for similarities between the L1 and the L2. It is then understandable why students tend to apply the rules for their native language to deal with the target language, needless to mention their embarrassment when a mistake occurs as the result of L1 interference.
