This kind of Buddhism is very different from Zen.
Zen doctrine gave us a good look at one perspective on human nature (valuing direct intuitive communication over scriptural knowledge, and simplicity, celebration of ordinary daily life, etc.).
On the other hand, in Pure Land we can see a different aspect of human nature, and also a very distinct outlook on “human destiny.” Whereas Zen involves acceptance of the world as it is, Pure Land emphasizes devotional religious practice as a means to ascend to a heaven-like environment.
