Furthermore, patients who were more than 10 km away from
the hospital were also found to arrive later than the patients who
were less than 10 km away from the hospital (98% vs. 80%,
P < 0.001).
Additionally, patients who reported being alone
during the event were more likely to arrive at the hospital later
than those who reported the presence of a companion/attendant/
escort (92% vs. 84%, P = 0.01).
Finally, food intake before the
symptoms onset (P = 0.04) and self-medication intake after the
symptoms onset (P = 0.06) were also related with delayed hospital
arrival (Supporting Information Table S2).
