metabolic thermoregulatory mechanisms are triggered to maintain body temperature (Campos et al., 2014). One of these responses is to reduce feed intake, to minimise heat production
associated with digestive and metabolic processes, but which also
reduces the amount of nutrients available for growth (Renaudeau
et al., 2011 ; Pearce et al., 2013). Before LPS challenge, pigs kept at
HT demonstrated lower feed intake and growth than those kept at
TN.
