2.4. Data analysis
Statistical analysis was performed using the SPSS 16.0 statistical software. Descriptive statistics were used to describe
arithmetic mean (Mx My), standard deviation (SDx Sdy) and minimum and maximum values of scores on initial and final
fitness assessments (Xmin, Xmax; Ymin, Ymax) for the basic features of the study, i.e. strength, balance skills and endurance.
Differences on initial and final assessment between experimental and control groups, as well as between mild and
borderline ID were established using t-test. The level of statistical significance of differences related to fitness test
performance and monitoring of effects of experimental factors was determined using analysis of variance (ANOVA). A
significance level of p 0.05 was considered statistically significant.
