A key finding of the present study was that computer/gaming
station addiction is consistently correlated with emotional and
functional problems in youth across multiple measures of addiction
and impairment as well as multiple informants. Increased computer/
gaming station use in the absence of addictive features was generally
not correlated with problems, which implies a difference
between youth who choose to spend a large amount of their free
time on the computer and youth who are unable to control their
use.
