Fourth Grade
In fourth grade, students learn to divide three-digit numbers by two-digit numbers, like 96÷ 8 and 288÷ 12 The goal is to introduce the long-hand format and to enable students to understand the meaning of division and develop their ways to compute division problems. Even as the range of numbers expands students are able to understand new they use problems they learned in the computations based on the division previous year.
Students also study the relationship between the dividend, divisor, quotient and remainder and study the properties of division.
