3. Independent Learning(15%) : STORYBOOK MAKING
As level 4 students are observed to be able use English language quite freely and creatively, It is interesting if these students can share their language talents to serve other language learnersin-need. Therefore, in this course, they are required to create a storybook for helping young language learners to learn English. Since the storybook is intended for young learners, basically Kindergarteners and Primary 1-3, the contents of the books should be oriented on language learning fundamentals as the followings;
- Counting Numbers
- Days and months
- Colors
- Time
- Feelings
- Action (basic verbs)
- Occupation
- Animals
Or students can compose a storybook using repeated structure (saying and doing something repeatedly).
Formats: The storybook must be formatted by:
- Size A4 paper (horizontal)
- 15-20 page long (coversnot included)
- Providing morale at the end.
- Being student’s original story
- Having front Cover that includes authors’ names, course name and KKU LI name
SCORING OF STORYBOOK
Complete and submission of the storybook = 9 points
(submission of a draft for language check = 4 points, completed storybook submission = 5 points)
Doing storybook review and narration = 6 points
1: Book Review (3 points)
Tell the class what the book is about. Who is the book intended for? Why the book is interesting. What are things that you expect from your book?
STORYBOOK REVIEW Criteria:
- Covering all topics of the review provided above = 1 point
- Speech accuracy (grammar + pronunciation + fluency) = 2 points
2. Narrating Story (3 points)
Let the students assume that they are telling their story to their targeted readers, and narrate the story page by page.
