Japan will dispatch a Government Delegation to the Kingdom of Thailand from December 19 to 23 in order to discuss the issue of Trafficking in Persons. The Delegation will be headed by Mr. Yukinari Hirose, Deputy Director-General of the Foreign Policy Bureau, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and comprise representatives of the authorities concerned (Cabinet Secretariat, National Police Agency, Ministry of Justice, and Ministry of Foreign Affairs).
The Delegation will have consultations with the relevant authorities of the Government of Thailand under the existing Japan-Thailand Joint Task Force on Counter Trafficking in Persons (JT-CTP), on situation and measures against Trafficking in Persons and international cooperation of the two countries in this field. The Delegation will also visit related facilities for victims.
Based on the understanding that close international cooperation is crucial to efficiently combat Trafficking in Persons as a transnational organized crime, Japan will enhance cooperation with Thailand to combat Trafficking in Persons through the visit of the delegation.
